前言 写给孩子和家长的话
阅读是打开世界的一扇窗户。英语阅读是充满乐趣的学习活动。
英语阅读习惯的培养要从娃娃抓起。只有在儿童时期打下良好的阅读基础，才能养成受益终身的阅读习惯。遗憾的是，英语阅读理解却成了困扰很多小学生和家长的难题。
因此，编写一套既能满足小学生英语课外阅读需求，又能提高他们阅读理解能力的辅导书就显得非常必要。本丛书共5册，每册设50个单元共100篇独立的小短文，主要有以下几个特点。
一、趣味性强
兴趣是最好的老师。本丛书集中选取了动物故事、童话故事、儿歌童谣、语言故事等富有趣味性的内容，符合小学生的认知规律，能让小学生在阅读中体验无穷的乐趣。
二、题型丰富
本套书涵盖小学英语测试重点和常见题型。其中本书除阅读理解（判断对错、选择答案）题型外，还包括其他一、二年级常见题型，如趣味图片题、单词分类、完成对话、根据情景选择正确句子等。
三、扩充词汇
词汇是阅读的基础。本丛书每篇短文附有“能量补充站”栏目，给出生词及解释。通过阅读，小学生的词汇量在不知不觉中得到了扩大，其学习效果明显优于机械的单词记忆。
四、书写训练“学如其人”，从字的书写，可以看出一个学生的学习习惯，字的书写也会影响学生的考试成绩。本书结合各篇章重点词汇，附赠英文书写字帖，让学生边写边记，背单词的同时练就一手好字，写好写快。
五、巩固语法
语法是学习的难点。目前小学英语课堂教学有淡化语法教学的倾向，这增加了语法学习的困难。通过阅读原汁原味的短文，小学生可在潜移默化中学习和巩固语法知识。
