返回总目录从前，有一座美丽的城堡，城堡里住着国王和王后。他们什么都不缺，就是一直都没有孩子。国王和王后日日夜夜地祈祷，盼望上天能赐给他们一个孩子。
一天，刚下过雨，天边挂着一道美丽的彩虹。王后虔诚地在河边祈祷：“请让我有个孩子吧！”突然，一只青蛙跳出水面对王后说：“你的愿望会实现的！不久以后，你就会有个女儿！”
Once upon a time, there lived a king and a queen. They prayed every day for a child. But they never had one.
One day, the queen went to the river after rain. She prayed again, "Dear God, please bless us with a child." At that moment, a frog jumped out of the water. He said to the queen, "You will have a daughter soon."
没过多久，王后果然生下了一个小公主。她有着雪一样白的肌肤、蓝宝石般的大眼睛和像玫瑰花瓣一样娇美的嘴唇。
国王和王后高兴极了。国王说：“我要举办一场盛大的宴会，让全国人民都知道这个好消息！”王后说：“是的，陛下。咱们要把仙女们请来，请她们赐福给咱们的小宝贝。”国王点点头，“嗯，她们将是我们最重要的客人！”
Before long, the queen really had a beautiful baby girl. The king and the queen were very happy. The king said, "I will hold a big party for our daughter, and everybody will know the good news."
The queen said, "We should invite the fairies. They will bless our daughter." "Yes, they shall be our most important guests," the king agreed.
王国里住着十三个仙女，其中十二个都非常善良，另外一个却邪恶而歹毒。国王只有十二只金盘子可供仙女使用，因此那个邪恶的仙女理所当然地没有受到邀请。
盛大的宴会隆重地举行了，仙女们为小公主送上一份份有魔力的祝福：“她将拥有最高尚的品德！”“她将成为王国里最漂亮的人！”“她将成为世界上最聪明的人！”
……
There were thirteen fairies in the kingdom. Among them, twelve were kind; one was evil. The king did not invite the evil fairy to the party.
On the party, each fairy gave a blessing to the princess.
"She shall be kind."
"She shall be beautiful."
"She shall be clever."
The fairies gave the princess every good thing in the world.
当第十二个仙女正要送出祝福时，宴会厅里突然响起邪恶仙女愤怒的咆哮声：“为什么不邀请我？我要让你们付出代价！公主将在十五岁时被一个纺锤扎伤，然后死去！”说完，邪恶仙女转身离去。
宾客们都惊呆了，王后流下了伤心的眼泪，“天哪，怎么办……”这时，第十二个仙女走过来，对王后说：“我虽然不能阻止那个魔咒应验，但我可以改变它——在公主十五岁生日那天，她不会死去，但她会沉睡一百年，直到她的真爱出现。”
When the twelfth fairy was about to give her blessing, the evil fairy came and shouted, "Why didn't you invite me? You will pay the price. When the princess is fifteen years old, she will prick herself with a spindle and die!"
The queen started to cry, "Oh, how to save my daughter!" "I have the last wish to make. Though I cannot break the curse, I can change it," the twelfth fairy said. "The princess will not die. She will fall into a long sleep for one hundred years until her true love comes."
为了避免诅咒应验，国王下令把全国的纺车、纺锤全部烧掉，并且不允许任何人向公主提起邪恶仙女的诅咒。
一年一年过去，小公主渐渐长大。善良仙女们的祝福也一个接着一个地实现。小公主是那么聪明美丽、温柔善良，所有人都喜欢她。
To save the princess, the king ordered that all the spindles in the kingdom be burned. And no one was allowed to tell about the princess the evil fairy's curse.
Years passed, and the princess grew up. The blessings of the good fairies all came true. The princess was very beautiful, clever, kind and gentle. Everyone loved her.
转眼间，就到了公主十五岁的生日。
这天早晨，在城堡里的其他人都还在睡着的时候，公主早早地就起床了。她一个人走出房间，走啊走，来到花园角落里的一座旧塔前。她爬上那座塔，看到一扇小门，门锁上插着一把生了锈的钥匙。“屋子里是什么呢？”公主打开门，啊，里面真黑！还不时发出吱吱呀呀的声音。公主仔细一看，才发现里面坐着一个穿着长袍的老太婆。
Soon, the princess became fifteen years old.
On the morning of her birthday, the princess got up very early. She walked around the castle alone. At last, she came to an old tower. She walked up to the top of the tower. Then she saw a door.
"What's in there?" the princess said to herself. She opened the door and saw an old woman inside.“早上好，老奶奶！请问您在干什么呀？”公主有礼貌地问。“哦，我在纺纱呢。”老太婆说。“咦？那是什么？我怎么从来没见过？”公主指着纺锤问。“这是纺锤，纺纱用的。这可是王国里唯一的一个哦，你要拿过去看看吗？”老太婆露出一丝不易察觉的笑容。
天真的公主高兴地伸出手来。谁知刚一碰到纺锤，她的手就被扎破了。紧接着公主便昏倒在旁边的床上，陷入了沉睡。
老太婆满意地笑了，原来她就是邪恶仙女！
"Good morning," said the princess politely, "What are you doing?"
"I am spinning," said the old woman.
"What is that? I have never seen it before," the princess pointed to the spindle.
"Ah, it is a spindle. It is the only spindle in the kingdom. Do you want to have a look?"
The princess picked up the spindle. It pricked her hand. Then she fell into a deep sleep.
The old woman laughed. She was the evil fairy!
就在公主倒下的这一刻，整座城堡也陷入沉睡之中。国王和王后才刚刚起床，又再次昏睡过去；正在服侍国王和王后的仆人也软绵绵地瘫倒在地上；小马站在马厩里睡着了；小狗趴在院子里睡着了；小火苗儿在灶膛里睡着了；厨师正在斥责一个做了错事的童工，现在他们两个也定在那儿睡着了……
At the same time, the whole castle fell asleep. The king and the queen had just gotten up, and now they fell asleep again. Their servants fell asleep on the floor. The horses fell asleep in the stable. The dogs fell asleep in the yard. The fire fell asleep in the chamber of the kitchen range. The cook had been shouting at a servant boy. They both fell asleep too.
荆棘丛渐渐包围了这座安静的城堡，年复一年，越长越高。慢慢地，整座城堡都被罩在这茂密的荆棘丛里。
于是，关于这个王国，有一个传说流传开来：一位美丽的沉睡着的公主，正等待着一位王子的拯救。这个说法流传了一代又一代，不知有多少个王子不远千里而来，就为去城堡里拯救公主，但他们都没能砍断那些荆棘。
Thorns began to grow up around the castle. They grew higher and higher, and finally covered up the castle.
From then on, a legend began spreading. It said that a beautiful princess was sleeping in the castle. She was waiting for a prince to wake her up with a kiss. Over the years, many princes came to the kingdom. They wanted to save the princess. But none of them could break through the thorns.
很多年以后，又有一个王子来到这个王国，准备去救公主。
有好心人告诫他：“那片荆棘非常危险，好多王子去了都没能回来。”
年轻英俊的王子笑着说：“公主已经沉睡了一百年，现在正是合适的时机。”
王子来到沉睡中的城堡。他惊讶地发现，那些荆棘上居然开出了美丽的玫瑰花。而王子每走近一步，玫瑰花丛就自动向两边分开，为他让路。
Many years later, another prince came to this kingdom.
People warned him of the danger, but the prince thought that the princess had been sleeping for one hundred years, and it was just time to wake her up.
The prince came to the castle. He was surprised, because he saw beautiful roses on the thorns. When he came close, the thorns parted and let him pass.
一路上，王子看到了马厩里熟睡的小马和院子里趴着的小狗。走进城堡后，他又看到了房间里熟睡的仆人、厨房里静止的火苗儿以及宝座上安睡的国王和王后。“这里真安静啊，我都能听得见自己的呼吸声！”王子暗暗惊叹。
The prince saw the sleeping horses in the stable and the sleeping dogs in the yard. He went into the castle. He saw that the servants, the fire, the king and the queen were all sleeping.
"It is so quiet here," thought the prince, "I can hear the sound of my breath."
王子开始挨个儿房间寻找公主，最后来到那座旧塔前。他爬上楼梯，推开小屋的门。啊！公主原来在这里！“她真的好美！”王子注视着公主娇美的脸庞，情不自禁地俯下身子吻了她一下。
就在王子的嘴唇触碰到公主的一瞬间，公主睁开了她蓝宝石般的眼睛。她望着王子，甜蜜地笑了。“亲爱的，从今天开始，就让我给你幸福吧！”王子握着公主的手，深情地说。
The prince searched every room in the castle and finally found the sleeping princess!
"She is so beautiful," the prince bent down and kissed her. Then the princess opened her eyes.
"Dear princess, I will give you a happy life from now on," the prince said. He took the princess by the hand.
王子和公主一起走下那座旧塔。
就在这时，城座城堡都苏醒了！国王、王后和仆人们你看看我，我看看你，都不记得发生了什么事。小马醒了，打了个响鼻；小狗醒了，在院子里蹦蹦跳跳；小火苗儿醒了，在灶膛里呼哧呼哧地笑着；而可怜的童工刚一醒来，就听见厨师对他大吼大叫……
这座沉睡了一百年的城堡终于恢复了生机。
The prince and the princess went down the tower together.
At that moment, everyone and everything in the castle woke up. The king, the queen and the servants looked at one another. They did not remember what had happened. The horses in the stable snorted. The dogs ran around in the yard. The fire in the kitchen burned up. The cook shouted to the servant boy loudly...
不久以后，王子和公主举行了盛大的婚礼。
全国上下一片欢乐与祥和，所有人都把最美丽的祝福献给他们。
王子与公主手牵着手，漫步在玫瑰花的海洋里。金色的阳光笼罩着他们，他们的目光与微笑，都是那么甜蜜！
从此以后，王子与公主幸福地生活在一起。
Soon after, the prince and the princess got married.
The whole kingdom was happy for them. Everybody gave them their best wishes.
The prince and the princess walked in a sea of roses. Golden sunshine fell on them. They looked at each other and smiled happily.

美丽的大森林里住着很多动物，其中有一只漂亮的兔子。她浑身像雪一样洁白，有着红宝石般的眼睛，人见人爱。不仅如此，她还是大森林里赫赫有名的运动健将。每次参加跑步比赛，发令枪一响，兔子就会像离弦的箭一样冲向终点。
In the big forest, there lived many animals. There was a beautiful hare who was very good at running. She almost won all the running races, so she became very proud.
同样长着四条腿，乌龟却是大森林里最慢的动物。他每天都背着沉重的壳在草丛里慢慢地爬呀，爬呀。以前，小松鼠和小猫们在路上看到乌龟都会关切地问：“你要去哪里？这么慢的速度，什么时候才能到啊？要不要我们直接背你过去？”
乌龟总是慢慢抬起头，礼貌地回答：“谢谢你们，不用了。我虽然慢，但只要肯坚持，就一定能顺利到达目的地。”久而久之，大家都对乌龟尊敬起来。
Tortoise was the slowest in the forest. When other animals met him on the way, they always offered help, "Where are you going? Do you need a ride?"
The tortoise would always answer them politely, "No, thank you. As long as I keep on crawling, I will get to my place finally."
一天上午，兔子在大森林里闲逛，发现乌龟正在不远处慢慢地爬着。她跑上前去，准备嘲弄乌龟一番。于是，她笑嘻嘻地对乌龟说：“乌龟，乌龟，咱们来赛跑，好吗？”乌龟知道兔子一定是在和他开玩笑，就没有理睬她。
兔子知道乌龟不敢跟她赛跑，乐得摇起耳朵，又蹦又跳，还编了一支歌儿笑话他：“乌龟，乌龟，爬爬，一早出门采花；乌龟，乌龟，走走，傍晚还在门口。”
