Preface

From: Ralph Rawlings

To: Bryant Jefferson

Subject: The New Employee

Dear Bryant,

I am wondering if you have learnt that we will have one more new employee in our department next Monday. If memory serves, his name is Oliver Hastings. He will come to work at nine o'clock am next Monday. It's said that he graduated from a famous university. And he left a favorable impression on the interviewer, so that he finally won the competition with the other seven interviewees for the position.

There will be a three-month probation period for him. It all depends whether he could be qualified for the job. He can get 60% of the basic salary every month during the probation period. You are expected to introduce to him the routine duties, as well as his salary and benefits, when he reports to you. However, according to your schedule, you should host a regular meeting then. So I wonder if you could agree to ask Jessica Lynn to talk with him instead.

To tell the truth, there is a great need for the new colleague. We have to attend to so many tasks these days. His arrival must be a great help. I just hope he will not be the kind of person who is difficult to get along with.

Yours faithfully,

Ralph
