Message
In August 2008, the Chinese people gave the world some memorable moments of sporting inspiration. These Games were truly exceptional.
The 2008 Beijing Games also marked a historical milestone for the Olympic Movement. The Games surely contributed to China’s opening up to the international community. Through these Games, the world learned more about China, and China learned more about the world.
From an operational and organisational point of view, the 2008 Beijing Games were a resounding success. The complex task of planning and delivering excellent facilities, services and operations was tackled very efficiently by the Games organisers.
The Olympic Games left a fantastic sporting legacy to Beijing and China, with a number of iconic venues such as the Bird’s Nest Stadium.
The photo album created by Mr Sha Wanquan, an Olympic planner and organiser, illustrates perfectly with hundreds of stunning pictures, why this Olympic venue has become an architectural landmark and a wonderland to visit.
Long after the end of the Games, the Bird’s Nest and other Olympic venues have encouraged the youth of China to participate in sport, and there is also no doubt that athletes will be inspired to achieve their best in these now world-class venues.

2008年8月，中国人民给世界呈现了值得记忆的时刻，彰显了体育带给人们的激励作用。这是一届无与伦比的奥运会。
北京奥运会也成为奥林匹克运动的一座历史丰碑。在中国向世界开放的进程中，北京奥运会功不可没。通过奥运会，世界更加了解中国，中国更加了解世界。
从运营和组织的角度看，北京奥运会的成功令人瞩目。赛事组织者高效地完成了复杂的筹备任务并提供了优质的设施、服务和运行。
奥运会给北京和中国留下了巨大的体育遗产，尤其是包括“鸟巢”在内的一批标志性场馆。
作为一名奥运建设者和组织者，沙万泉先生的画册通过数百张精美绝伦的“鸟巢”图片，让我们一起见证“鸟巢”这一建筑丰碑和运动乐园的光辉时刻。
北京奥运会虽然已经结束，但“鸟巢”和其它奥运场馆将继续激励中国的青少年参与运动，激励各国运动员创造更优异的成绩。

The Author's Preface
Due to a great passion for photography and a deep Olympic complex, besides, my office is in close proximity to the Bird's Nest, so I select the venue as an important theme of my photographic work after the Beijing Olympic Games. Shooting nice photos of the Bird's Nest becomes a lingering dream of mine. The Bird's Nest is a landmark that attracts the world’s attention. It witnessed the Beijing Olympic Games and became a glorious place in the heart of every Chinese. Taking full advantage of light and shadow, I look back on the glorious place again and again with immense feelings of admiration. Looking back… stories about selfless devotion, heat on the construction site, splendid and exceptional sceneries as well as passionate cheer from the crowd, all of which continuously inspire me to keep pressing my camera shutter, and to "look back in glory" through light and shadow.
自序
我酷爱摄影，又有深深的奥运情结，还有与鸟巢近在咫尺的缘分。于是，奥运会之后，我把鸟巢作为摄影的重要题材，用手中的镜头拍摄好鸟巢，成为我的梦想。鸟巢是世人瞩目的标志性建筑；鸟巢见证北京赢得了世界；鸟巢是中国人心中的圣地。回眸圣地：无私奉献的故事、热火朝天的建设、无与伦比的盛况、震撼心灵的呐喊、热情细微的服务……使我怀着无比敬仰的心情，一次又一次地按下快门，用光和影书写“圣地回眸”。
水天之梦 The Dream of Water & Sky
天如画，水如镜，水天一色，鸟巢于水天之间，构成“水天之梦”。她是我追寻摄影梦想的开始。
The picturesque sky and the glassing water merge in one color. Between the sky and the water lies the Bird’s Nest. It composes a picture called “The Dream of Water & Sky”, from where I start to follow my dream of photography.
倒影、静水、残雪、栏杆，翻转后观赏，鸟巢仿佛置身于宇宙苍穹。
Reflections, still water, unmelted snow and handrails, looking it upside-down, the Bird's Nest is like in the midst of firmament.
