前言

工作以后,我们都庆幸不用再背英语单词了。但每逢在工作中遇到英语,我们都会感到背过的四六级词汇不够用。无论是商业报刊、商务文书,还是国外客户的函件,都会出现一些你不熟悉的词汇。就算这些英语的句子都比较简单,那些词汇都会成为你的理解障碍。

那么,有没有可能专门收集这类词汇,让学习者突击一下,在短期内实现突破呢?经过分析,我们认为完全有可能。首先,这些词汇都存在于一定范围内:工作中会看到和用到的商务英语。其次,这些词的出现频率较高,因为商务表达都注重简洁有效,人们一般会使用相对约定俗成的语言。如此一来,我们就有了选择本书词汇的依据:在约定范围内选择使用频率高、读者熟悉度较低的词汇。

同时,我们也确定了本书的选词原则:精确有效。全书收词量不算大,一两个月就能背完。而一旦攻下这些词汇再学习商务英语,读者就会感觉畅通许多。商务英语其实并不难,很少出现长难句,过去困扰你的就是这些词,而这些词在各种类型的商务英语中会频繁出现,一旦被你掌握,你就几乎是无往不克了。

除了选词,本书编写的每个环节都注重实用性。所有主词都配音标。单词的释义部分不像其他单词书那样罗列很多义项,而是只选取一两个在商务环境中最常用的词义,减轻读者的记忆负担。所有例句或来自商务材料,或在商务背景下编写,让读者在真实语境中学习词汇,灵活掌握词汇用法。

这本书将收集的商务词汇分为三部分:高频词汇、实用短语、分类词汇。读者可以根据自身需要从不同部分开始学习。

Part 1商务英语高频词汇。这部分词汇主要来源于报刊文章和广播新闻,精选了出现频率高又相对较难的词汇约700个。熟记这些词,你在阅读商业刊物、收听商业新闻时就会感到顺畅许多。

Part 2商务英语实用短语。这部分精选了商务文书和商务交流中的常用短语,约800条。在英语中,无论口语还是书面写作,由2至5个单词组成的短语占了相当大的比例。因此,我们应该多记短语,而不是只背单词。短语的语义不像单词那么明确,脱离了语境就很难记住。如果借助书中例句提供的语境,先理解再记忆,效果就会好很多。

Part 3商务英语分类词汇。这部分词汇按商务领域分类,约2000个词汇,涵盖10个类别:经济、金融、公司、生产、营销、公司财务、工作、人力资源、贸易、法律。每个类别下还有细分的项目。词汇有两大来源,一是商务文书,包括报告、演讲、广告、说明书等;二是书面和口语交流,包括电子邮件、谈话、打电话、会议、谈判等。记住所有这些类别的词汇,你就可以顺利地和各个部门的同事沟通,与不同专业的人士打交道。
